Why basalt—and not just any rock?

Basalt is a volcanic rock with a particularly high heat retention capacity. It releases heat slowly and evenly—unlike ceramics or metal, which cool down quickly. Its smooth surface allows it to glide comfortably over the skin. You can recognize high-quality basalt stones by their uniform density, lack of pores, and substantial weight in the hand.

Effects and Indications

The combination of heat and manual therapy relaxes the muscles much more deeply than traditional massage alone. Hot stone massage is used to treat muscle tension (especially in the back and neck), stress-related symptoms, poor circulation, and to prepare the body for more intensive manual techniques.

Not suitable for: Acute inflammation, fever, circulatory instability, pregnancy (abdominal area), skin injuries in the treatment area.

What components do I need?

Basalt stones: A standard set contains 18–24 stones of various sizes—large, flat stones for and abdomen, and small ones for and face.
Heating device: An electric water bath that heats the stones to a constant temperature of 50–60 °C and maintains it. Never use a microwave or stove—temperature cannot be controlled.
