Why Scent Matters in a Therapy Practice

Smell is the sense most directly linked to the limbic system—it influences mood, the perception of stress, and emotional memories of a place. A pleasant, subtle scent in the waiting room has a calming effect on anxious patients.

Important: Use sparingly. What smells pleasant for therapist may be unpleasant for with fragrance allergies or migraines. It is recommended to check with the patient briefly before treatment.
