Essential Oils in Therapeutic Practice – Used Correctly

Essential oils are absorbed in two ways: by inhalation through the mucous membranes (using a diffuser or steam bath) and transdermally through the skin (diluted in a carrier oil).

The Most Important Oils and Their Effects

Usage Instructions – What Really Matters

Never apply undiluted to the skin: for , dilute to 1–3% in a carrier oil (approx. 5 drops per 10 ml of carrier oil). Undiluted oils can cause chemical burns and contact allergies.

Diffuser: 3–5 drops, run for 30 minutes—then ventilate the room. Continuous use may cause headaches.

Pregnancy and Children: Many essential oils are contraindicated (eucalyptus, rosemary, and peppermint for children under 3 years of age).

Quality feature: Pure essential oils

The botanical name on the bottle (e.g., Lavandula angustifolia), country of origin, extraction method, and expiration date are indicators for quality. Store in opaque bottles—light breaks down the active ingredients.
