Stage-appropriate wound care – the foundation

Modern wound care follows the principle of phase-specific treatment. Acute wounds go through the stages of hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling. Each phase requires different materials—using the wrong product slows down healing.

L&R Debrisoft – Mechanical Debridement

Special monofilament nonwoven fabric for mechanical cleansing of chronic wounds, ulcers, and fibrin-covered wound surfaces. Minimally painful and suitable for use by trained healthcare professionals. Studies have shown better cleansing results with less pain compared to traditional cotton gauze systems.

DermaPlast Alginate

Made from seaweed fibers with exceptional absorbency (up to 15 times their own weight). Used for heavily exuding wounds and for primary hemostasis. Forms a moist gel upon contact with wound exudate.

Alcohol swabs (Hartmann)

Standard procedure for preparation before injections. 70% isopropyl alcohol – let it sit for 10–15 seconds, then let it air dry.

Frequently Asked Questions

When to use alginate vs. foam dressings?

Alginate: Highly exudative, hemostasis, deep wounds. Foam dressing: Moderately exudative, pressure protection, promotion of granulation.
