The right product for right surface

Errors in disinfection protocols almost never result from a lack of care, but rather from using the wrong product for wrong surface. The most common example: using alcohol-based surface disinfectant daily on faux leather upholstery—effective for , but damaging for upholstery.

Hand Sanitizer

Alcohol-based hand sanitizer (Sterillium Classic Pure, Desderman Care) is the single most important measure for preventing infection in the clinic. Contact time: 30 seconds.

Important: Disinfect dry hands—do not wash them first and then disinfect them. Water dilutes the alcohol-based solution and significantly reduces its effectiveness.

Dispenser systems: 500-ml bottles for , 1-liter bottles for reception area, 5-liter containers for storage.

Surface Disinfection

Daily upholstery disinfection: Alcohol-free disinfectant wipes (Schülke Mikrozid Sensitive Wipes) are gentle on fabrics and designed for daily for on PU/PVC synthetic leather upholstery—they do not dry out the upholstery.

Weekly deep disinfection: Alcohol-based sprays (Schülke Mikrozid AF Spray) for disinfection of metal parts and hard surfaces.

Ultrasonic transducers and electrodes: Use special spray disinfectants approved by the manufacturer for therapy devices. Never apply undiluted alcohol to electrode cables.

Minimum equipment requirements for practice

Frequently Asked Questions

Why not always use the strongest remedy?

Stronger disinfectants can damage delicate materials (faux leather, plastics) and lead to higher costs over time due to material wear and tear. Choosing the right product based on the surface and frequency of use is more cost-effective.

How long does disinfectant last?

Unopened: 24–36 months from the date of manufacture. Once opened: 6–12 months. Record the lot number and opening date in the hygiene log.
