Nitrile, latex, or vinyl—which one should you use when?

Nitrile – the standard

Now the standard in medical and therapeutic practices: low-allergen, chemical-resistant, tear-resistant, and puncture-resistant. Standard: EN 455. Recommended wherever latex allergies may be present among patients—which should be the norm in an average practice. Latex allergies affect 1–6% of the population and are even more common among healthcare workers due to constant exposure.

Latex – for tactile feedback

A more natural fit and better tactile feedback—still popular for manual techniques that require a great deal of dexterity. Strictly avoid if the patient or therapist has a latex allergy.

Vinyl – the affordable option

Minimal mechanical protection, but sufficient for , non-invasive activities that do not involve contact with bodily fluids.

Fingerless gloves: a targeted solution

Protect individual fingers—useful for examinations (e.g., trigger point palpation), for those with a glove allergy to full-finger gloves, or as protection for the therapist in cases of minor finger injuries.

Other important things to consider when making a purchase

Powder-free gloves are now the norm —powdered gloves are banned in many medical facilities because powder can trigger allergies and contaminate wounds.

Keep all standard sizes (S, M, L, XL) in stock. Bulk packs (boxes of 100) are significantly cheaper for than smaller packages.
