Organic cotton

Cotton is produced according to the guidelines of organic farming. In contrast to conventional cotton cultivation, the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers is prohibited. Manure and compost are used to maintain and improve the natural fertility of the soil. This increases the humus content of the soil, which can store more water and CO. It also reduces the susceptibility to erosion. The farmers also have to rotate their crops. This means that cotton is grown in rotation with other crops.
