Herbal Oil Baths – How They Work and How to Use Them

Therapeutic full-body baths work through three mechanisms simultaneously: heat relaxes the muscles, buoyancy relieves pressure on the joints, and essential oils are absorbed through the skin and by inhalation.

Dosage: 10–20 ml per full bath (150–200 liters). Temperature: 36–38°C. Duration: 15–20 minutes, followed by a 30-minute rest period.

Herbal Oil Baths vs. Hot Tub Additives

Traditional herbal oil baths can produce a lot of foam in hot tubs and put a strain on the pump. MEDiDOR hot tub additives are formulated to produce minimal foam and have been technically tested—always check the product label.

Contraindications

Full baths are not recommended in cases of: acute inflammation, open wounds, severe heart defects, uncontrolled high blood pressure, thrombosis, and pregnancy (third trimester).

How many baths can be made from 1 liter of concentrate?

At 20 ml per full bath: 1 liter yields 50 baths. for practice with 2–3 baths per day, 1 liter lasts about 3 weeks.
