Which treatment table is right for your practice?

It depends on more than just price. A physical therapy practice offering eight sessions a day has different needs than an osteopathy practice offering five—and those who make house calls have yet another set of requirements. The four questions that really matter: What types of treatments do you offer? How many patients do you see each day? What kind of segmentation do you need? And what is your patient capacity?

Physiotherapy

When patient volume is high, electric height adjustment pays off—the foot switch saves you real time throughout the day and is easier on your back. 3-section treatment tables with cm approximately 45–95 cm and a weight capacity of at least 200 kg are exactly what most practices really need.

Chiropractic and Manual Therapy

This is where specialized tables with drop pieces and a flexion-distraction function are needed. ErgoStyle models are designed specifically for this purpose—not as all-around tables.

Mobile therapists and home visits

Weighs less than 15 kg, sturdy aluminum frame, load capacity of at least 200 kg. Test the folding mechanism yourself before you buy—on paper, many loungers are described as “easy to set up.”

Wider lying surfaces (at least 70 cm), sturdy construction, and a cover that can be disinfected daily without deteriorating.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a therapy table cost?

Electric models for starting at approx. CHF 1,500. Chiropractic or traction tables: CHF 3,500–12,000. Portable folding tables starting at CHF 400.

Electric or hydraulic?

Starting at eight treatments a day, the electric system clearly has the advantage—the time savings and reduced strain on the back outweigh the additional cost. The hydraulic system is cheaper, but slower.

What is the load capacity?

At least 200 kg static load. for treating obese patients or for high-pressure applications: 250 kg. Be sure to note the difference between static and dynamic load capacity—this is often not listed in the data sheet.

How many segments do I need?

for a for massage, two are enough. for , three segments is the norm. You really only need four to seven segments in chiropractic care.

Upholstery – what should you look for?

High-quality synthetic leather (PU or PVC) can withstand alcohol-based disinfectants. For daily cleaning, it’s best to use an alcohol-free option—this will help the upholstery last much longer.
